Our history & experience in the industry... We are a family owned company, working out of our base in Machynlleth, Powys.
We also operate services on behalf of Gwynedd and Powys County Councils comprising of school bus and local bus service contracts. As from January 2010 we have also commenced operation of school bus contracts on behalf of Ceredigion County Council in the Aberystwyth area. Employment The company employees in excess of thirty staff, with two support engineering staff, and a management team of four, with the majority living locally to the business and contribute to the local economy. We also have staff who live in the Bala, Dolgellau and Porthmadog area. As a result the business provides valuable support to the local economy of Machynlleth. Vehicle Fleet The business fleet comprises of thirty vehicles with twenty four modern vehicles, from 6 seats up to 57 seats. The company has recently invested in new easy access low floor buses for the local bus service market. We also have modern coaches of 2006 and 2008 build with a wheelchair access lift at the front, proving our commitment to our clients and the area and to the company’s development and reinvestment of profits.
The company's management team and our experience in the industry Mr Wyn Lloyd - company owner Mr Wyn Lloyd the owner of the company has twenty seven
years experience in the transport industry. Mr Lloyd commenced his career in
the profession with Mid Wales Motorways (based in Newtown) back in 1979 as an
apprentice mechanic, before moving on with the same company to mechanic/driver.
During March of 1983 Mr Lloyd commenced employment with the then Crosville Motor Services as a driver, also covering as a mechanic at their Dolgellau depot. During his time with Crosville/Crosville Wales Ltd Mr Lloyd progressed through the ranks before becoming responsible for the operation of their depot at Machynlleth. During his time in this position he was able to develop the local bus network in the Machynlleth area by being in touch with the customer market base. At this time he gained a long standing arrangement with Central Trains to undertake any rail replacement work at times of emergency on the Cambrian Railway Line. This meant working long and difficult hours. After many years as Operations Officer of the Machynlleth depot, during 2001 Mr Lloyd embarked on establishing his own bus and coach business through applying his many years experience in the industry. Lloyd's Coaches also works closely with other organisations including local authorities and other businesses such as Arriva Trains Wales. Today Mr Lloyd operates one of the leading bus and coach companies of Mid Wales.
Richard Jones CMILT - General Manager Richard has twenty one years experience in the transport industry starting out his career with Crosville Wales Ltd as summer support staff at various offices, before moving on as a clerk/driver/relief leading driver and leading driver.
Richard has also worked for National Express and has undertaken coach driving tours the length and breadth of Britain for both Arvonia Coaches and Silver Star Coach Holidays of Caernarfon. During 2009 Richard returned to his operational roots within the industry by taking up the post of General Manager with Lloyds Coaches, joining an already successful management team of people, bringing with him his knowledge and experience of the transport industry.
Mr Robert Rolfe - Operations Supervisor Mr Robert Rolfe has thirty years experience within the transport industry. Mr Rolfe started his career driving lorries then moved to Wales, commencing employment with Crosville Wales Ltd in 1998. Mr Rolfe progressed from being a driver to Garage Supervisor at Crosville's Machynlleth depot before, moving on to Arriva North West & Wales as a result of the Cowie group's take over of Crosville Wales. At Arriva Mr Rolfe at one point managed the operation of three depots simultaneously for Arriva in the area and also won the Driver of the Year award for the Arriva North West & Wales area in 1999. Following his time with Arriva Mr Rolfe moved to Lloyds Coaches and became the company's Operations Supervisor, drawing on his long term knowledge and experience of the industry.
Mr Colin Pryce - Administration Supervisor
During his career he progressed through the ranks with Crosville and then Arriva to driver training officer/supervisor before retiring from Arriva in 2007. On retirement from Arriva Mr Pryce took up the post as Administration Supervisor with Lloyds Coaches also bringing with him his vast experience of the industry. |
