  Our history & experience in the industry...

We are a family owned company, working out of our base in Machynlleth, Powys. 

The work we undertake is diverse, from school & college bus services, local bus services, dial a ride services, coaching through to private hire including the provision of wedding and corporate cars.  We also undertake rail replacement work on behalf of Arriva Trains Wales through planned work to the railway lines to emergency cover being provided at a moments notice.

We also operate services on behalf of Ceredigion, Gwynedd and Powys County Councils comprising of school bus and local bus service contracts.

During September 2012 we commenced operation of the new T2 TrawsCymru service on behalf of the Welsh Government, operating between Aberystwyth and Bangor.

Employment 

The company employees in excess of 50 staff comprising of driving, administrative and engineering support, with the majority living locally to the business and contribute to the local economy.  We also have staff who live to the south of Aberystwyth, Bala, Dolgellau and Porthmadog.

The business provides valuable support to the local economy of Machynlleth and the Dyfi Valley through employment and transport opportunities.

The company is now one of the largest employers in the area.

Vehicle Fleet 

The business fleet comprises of forty eight vehicles from wedding & corporate cars, mini buses/coaches to single/double deck service buses to higher end coaches (including high capacity 70 seat coaches).  The company is continuing with its investment in new easy access modern low floor buses for the local bus service market from single deck vehicles to our flagship Enviro 400 double deckers used on our X28 Coastliner route following recent investment in the service.  We also have modern coaches including a wheelchair access lift at the front of one of the vehicles, proving our commitment to our clients and the area and to the company’s development and reinvestment of profits. 

 

 

 

The company's management team and our experience in the industry

Mr Wyn Lloyd - Managing Director (company owner)

Mr Wyn Lloyd the owner of the company has twenty seven years experience in the transport industry.  Mr Lloyd commenced his career in the profession with Mid Wales Motorways (based in Newtown) back in 1979 as an apprentice mechanic, before moving on with the same company to mechanic/driver. 

During March of 1983 Mr Lloyd commenced employment with the then Crosville Motor Services as a driver, also covering as a mechanic at their Dolgellau depot. 

During his time with Crosville/Crosville Wales Ltd Mr Lloyd progressed through the ranks before becoming responsible for the operation of their depot at Machynlleth.

During his time in this position he was able to develop the local bus network in the Machynlleth area by being in touch with the customer market base.  At this time he gained a long standing arrangement with Central Trains to undertake any rail replacement work at times of emergency on the Cambrian Railway Line.  This meant working long and difficult hours.

After many years as Operations Officer of the Machynlleth depot, during 2001 Mr Lloyd embarked on establishing his own bus and coach business through applying his many years experience in the industry.

Lloyd's Coaches also works closely with other organisations including local authorities the Welsh Government and other businesses such as Arriva Trains Wales.

Today Mr Lloyd operates one of the leading bus and coach companies of Wales.

The company also became runners up in the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Wales National Transport Awards for 2012 in the awards categories 'Excellence in Passenger Transport' and 'Innovative Solutions'.

The company also reached the finalist stages of the RouteONE Operator Excellence awards that took place in a prestigious industry awards ceremony at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham in award categories 'Small Bus Operator of the Year (1 - 30 vehicles) and 'Bus Operator Innovation of the Year'.

The company also reached the final stages as a finalist of the RouteONE Operator Excellence awards again this year (2013), with winners being announced at the prestigious Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham in the award category 'Small Bus Operator of the Year (1 - 30 vehicles) on the 2nd of October, 2013.

 

Mr Daniel Lloyd - General Manager

Dan is Wyn's son and joined the business as a coach driver approximately five years ago having come from a motor vehicle mechanical background initially.  Since then he has gained experience through his many miles of coach driving throughout the UK.  He now works at the company's office in his present capacity of Traffic Supervisor.

 

 

 

 

Mr Robert Rolfe - Traffic Supervisor

Mr Robert Rolfe has thirty three years experience within the transport industry.  Mr Rolfe started his career driving lorries then moved to Wales, commencing employment with Crosville Wales Ltd in 1998.  Mr Rolfe progressed from being a driver to Garage Supervisor at Crosville's Machynlleth depot before, moving on to Arriva North West & Wales as a result of the Cowie group's take over of Crosville Wales.  At Arriva Mr Rolfe at one point managed the operation of three depots simultaneously for Arriva in the area and also won the Driver of the Year award for the Arriva North West & Wales area in 1999.  Following his time with Arriva Mr Rolfe moved to Lloyds Coaches and became the company's Operations Supervisor, drawing on his long term knowledge and experience of the industry.

 

 

 

 

Miss Hanna Vaughan - Administrative assistant

Hanna comes to transport a new having come from the local hotel service industry.  She is now a member of the Lloyds Coaches team and through her friendly and helpful nature will be able to assist you with your initial enquiries as Hanna is normally the first point of contact with the company via our general office number 01654 702 100.

 

 

 

 

 

Mr Colin Pryce - part time administrator/Driver Assessor-trainer

Mr Pryce has forty seven years experience in the transport industry, having commenced employment with Crosville Motor Services in 1965 as a driver having won the driver of the year award with Crosville on many occasions before becoming the South Cambrian Area driver trainer for the company in 1969.

During his career he progressed through the ranks with Crosville and then Arriva to driver training officer/supervisor before retiring from Arriva in 2007.  On retirement from Arriva Mr Pryce took up the post  as Administration Supervisor with Lloyds Coaches also bringing with him his vast experience of the industry.

By now Mr Pryce has taken the role of part time administrative assistant which he fits in between undertaking his daily school bus.

Mr Pryce is also the company's driver assessor, assessing prospective new driving staff at the time of staff recruitment and selection.  Mr Pryce also provides valuable driver training from his many years of experience.

 

Mr Kevin Mills - Bus Inspector / School Bus Driver

Mr Mills is our newly appointed bus inspector.  He also drivers on school bus service for the company. He comes from a long background in public transport having started with Crosville Wales Limited in Machynlleth as a driver, before moving on to Midland Red West, then returning back to Aberystwyth with Arriva Cymru as a driver before quickly moving up the ranks to Traffic Supervisor involved with all operational aspects of the South Cambria Area.  Mr Mills is now the company's bus inspector which involves different aspects from customer care, driver liaison to revenue protection duties.

Kevin will be supported in his bus inspector role by our Traffic Supervisors.

Our valued driving staff vary in age and experience, all of which are professional people and who play a very active roll in the company and the delivery of it's services to our valued customers.

Our driving staff are very helpful and are always on hand to assist you to ensure that you receive a pleasant and comfortable journey/service with our company.

Our engineering team are the people who keep our vehicles safely on the road.

We have a dedicated team of professional people who have a wide range of experience within the engineering industry.
